In the run-up to the assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh, Prime Minister Modi today called upon the people of Himachal Pradesh to give an overwhelming mandate to BJP urging them to break the trend of voting different parties to power in every election.
Addressing public gatherings in Una, Prime Minister Modi reiterated the development undertaken by the BJP government in the past five years in the state. He said the double-engine government in Himachal has undertaken a flurry of development activities in Himachal.
PM Modi visited Una and Chamba Districts in Himachal Pradesh today (Oct 13). PM Modi today came with a Diwali package for the people of Himachal Pradesh as he laid the foundation of several ambitious projects. This marked his 2nd visit to Himachal Pradesh in a row within a week’s time, the former being the Kulu Dusshera Celebration.
PM Modi flagged off the 4th Vande Bharat Train of the nation from Una in Himachal Pradesh. The all-new Rapid transit train will run from Amb Andaura ( Una) to New Delhi and vice-versa. The train will run 6 days a week and will halt at Chandigarh and Anandpur Sahib before arriving at Una. The move is slated to open robust tourism opportunities with an efficient and effective mode of travel. The AC cum Wifi enabled Vande Bharat Express will reduce the travel time by 2 hours.
Owing to the Information Technology opportunities in the state, PM Modi also dedicated IIIT Una to Himachal Pradesh. This evokes the holistic boost of the counter magnet areas of Una to lead in the loftier educational opportunities in the state. Presently, the institute has 530 students and the strength is up for expansion in the coming time.
Considering the tenacity of Himachal Pradesh in being one of the topmost pharmaceutical hubs of India, Mr Modi also laid the foundation stone ‘Bulk Drug Park’ in Una constructed at a cost of 1900 crores. The Drug Park project aims for a comprehensive industrial revolution in the state. Thus, reducing a high dependence on API Imports and bringing down the cost of manufacturing bulk drugs and helping in creating 20,000 employment opportunities.
This was followed by PM Modi’s afternoon visit to Chamba district(HP) for further announcement of the pioneer projects. PM Modi laid the foundation of two hydropower projects – the Chanju-III hydroelectric project and the 30 MW Deothal Chanju hydroelectric project. Both 2 projects are highly competent in generating over 270 million units of yearly electricity and thus, could help the state in accumulating a revenue of over Rs 110 crores.
PM in his style quoted the infamous yet true idiom- ‘Pahad ka Paani aur Pahad ki Jawani Kabhi Pahad ke kaam nahi aayi’. He was all praise for the Double engine government of Himachal in ensuring the culture, heritage and infrastructure of the state.
The PM also announced the tribal status of the Hati community of the Giripar area of Sirmaur. Lastly, on the grounds of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY III), PM announced the enhancement of 3125 km of road in the state for which 420 crores have been sanctioned for the 1st phase so as to upgrade 440 km road stretch in the border and distant areas of the state.
BJP’s Flagship programme in HP is in the queue with the ‘Aatamanirbhar Bharat’ initiative and features all-inclusive projects in the state. Union Minister of Sports Anurag Thakur and Himachal CM Jai Ram Thakur accompanied the PM throughout his visit.
