In his media address, Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said they were starting India’s first virtual school. But is the claim true?
Kejriwal’s Media Address:
- Delhi CM Kejriwal announced on 31st Aug 2022 that his government was starting India’s first virtual school- Delhi Model Virtual School
- The virtual school will be affiliated with the Delhi Board of Education
- Students from anywhere in the country can apply for admission said Kejriwal
- Admissions for the virtual school will begin from class 9
India’s first virtual school
- With just a simple search it can be proved that this claim is completely false
- India has about three to four private virtual schools namely, SEAS global institute, K8 School, The Virtual School of India, and 21K school
- Ex CM of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated virtual school projects way back in 2019
- He also inaugurated three schools in Dehradun which connected about 600 remote locations virtually
Reality of the Kejriwal School Model
- On 27th August 2022, a student was injured after a ceiling fan fell on her
- The girl, studying in a government school in Delhi had to be hospitalized due to the incident
- Reportedly, the walls of the classroom were damp and were dripping water
- Several videos surfing online claim that there aren’t enough teachers, unclean water, inadequate classrooms as well as the school building is a fall risk
While NYT is busy boasting about Arvind Kejriwal’s education model, the real victims here seem to be the voters and innocent children of Delhi.
