Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju on 12 October, 2022 responded to Jairam Ramesh’s claim of Maharaja Hari Singh delaying accession of Kashmir to India. The Congress leader had claimed that Maharaja Hari Singh dithered over Kashmir’s accession to India.
In a series of tweets, Kiren Rijiju quoted Jawaharlal Nehru to counter the arguments of Jairam Ramesh.

The Union Law Minister replied to the tweet of the Congress leader with a series of tweets.
He wrote, “This ‘historical lie’, that Maharaja Hari Singh dithered on question of accession of Kashmir with India has gone on for far too long in order to protect the dubious role of J.L. Nehru. Let me quote Nehru himself to bust the lie of Jairam Ramesh”.

He wrote that a month before Independence, Maharaja Hari Singh approached Jawarharlal Nehru for accession to India but was rebuffed.
He further criticised Jawaharlal Nehru for dithering during Pakistan’s invasion in 1947.
The Union minister was quoting Jawaharlal Nehru’s Lok Sabha speech on 24 July, 1952 (After the agreement with Sheikh Abdullah).
BJP leaders have often asserted their view of former PM Jawaharlal Nehru’s inefficient handling of the Kashmir issue.
