A recent flurry of memes flooded social media as Indian pacer Jaspreet Bumrah’s injury was announced on past Thursday. Just days ago, Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out of the world cup due to an injury. Netizens trolled Indian cricketers for getting injured frequently, especially before an ICC event — such as the T20 World cup.

Fans on social media alleged that Indian players never miss IPL matches but are non-available for International cricket.

The Meme fest

The spree of injuries has led to a meme fest on social media.

Indian cricket fans expressed their sadness over the star bowler being ruled out with memes.

Fans are also speculating about the performance of the Indian team in the world cup without Jaspreet Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja.

Criticism Regarding IPL

Several fans on Twitter claimed that Indian fans are more devoted to playing Indian Premier League rather than the National team.

If we analyse the current squad of the Indian team against South Africa for the T20 series then every player was part of the IPL.

Indian cricketers such as Kl Rahul, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jaspreet Bumrah and Hardik Pandya are considered MVPs during the glamorous league held every year.

Injuries and Indian cricket team

In recent years, top Indian cricketers have struggled to deal with frequent injuries.

Celebrity cricketers such as Kl Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Jaspreet Bumrah, etc are highly prone to injuries. Over the years these players have missed many international matches in tests and limited overs format due to injuries.

The recent injuries of Jaspreet Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja have again brought these concerns to the fore for Indian fans. But why Indian players are so prone to injuries?

Busy Schedule

Indian cricket team has one of the busiest and hectic schedules in the cricketing calendar.

Even the former Indian captain of the T20 format Virat Kohli had cited the workload after he stepped down from the captaincy role for the format.

Since the resumption of cricket last year after the covid pandemic, the Indian team has played IPL in UAE and then toured Australia in December 2021. Come next year, the Indian team toured England for a long test match series. The tour ended abruptly as the last test match had to be cancelled due to Covid concerns.

Though the former English cricketers and fans alleged that this transpired due to BCCI prioritising the IPL more than the 5th test match. The Indian cricketers were back for another season of the IPL.

Let us remind you that Indian cricketers were subjected to strict bio-bubble conditions which also negatively impacted their physique.

Before the commencement of the T20 World cup, the Indian team has already played the Asia cup and a T20 series with Australia. The Indian side is currently playing with South Africa in a T20 series.

While Indian cricketers may be criticised for paying more attention to the IPL rather than the National team but blames rests on BCCI too for not easing up the tight schedule for the team.
