Television and film producer, Ekta Kapoor is once again in the thick of media limelight for her controversial web series production, ‘XXX’. The Supreme Court of India has slammed the producer for the objectionable content in the series that pollutes the minds of the young generation viewers.  “You are polluting the minds of the young children”, the Supreme Court told Ekta Kapoor.

The Supreme Court’s bench comprising Justice Ajay Rastogi and CT Ravi Kumar gave its observation while hearing the petition filed by Producer Ekta Kapoor, challenging the arrest warrant against her for allegedly insulting and hurting the sentiment of soldiers and their families in a Web Series XXX on the OTT ALT Balaji.

XXX is the most erotic controversial series and a complaint has not been filed against this series for the first time. In 2020, an FIR was registered in Madhya Pradesh against the Producer, where an ex-serviceman Shambhu Kumar from Begusarai Bihar filed a complaint for an obscene scene depicting a soldier’s wife. An arrest warrant has been received by the mother-daughter duo (Sobha Kapoor and Ekta) for this erotic series. Earlier, her reality show “Lockup” has also put her in trouble for plagiarism.

Paurushpur, Gandibaat, Ragini MMS, Mentalhood, Bekaboo, The Married Women, XXX, etc. to add more to her Controversial content on the OTT. Most of her series contain obscene, indecent, abusive words and debatable scenes which can pollute the minds of the Young Generation or Gen Z.

Affordability and accessibility of the Internet led to the contribution of OTT Platforms and hence binging ott has become a favourite pass time for both Gen Z and Millenials. Supreme Court has shown Concern for the Young Generation and their developing minds

Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatagi appeared for the plea submitted in the apex court. The court has already provided protection to Ekta in a similar case. This time the Court supported the person who doesn’t have a voice by saying “Every time You travel to this court… We don’t appreciate this. We will put a cost on you for filing such a petition. Mr Rohtagi, please convey this to your client. Just because you can afford and hire the services of good lawyers….. This court is not for those who have voices”.

The customization era is currently in effect. The younger generation loves personalization in everything because they want to live life on their own terms. OTT platforms fully meet the aspirations of younger generations, therefore it’s no surprise that these platforms have earned their favour and completely altered rather than improved their understanding of entertainment.
